A graduate of Appalachian State University, Scott Shail spent three years as a Juvenile Counselor and advocate before taking the legal plunge at the University of Baltimore School of Law. Graduating with honors, Shail was chosen to clerk for a Federal Bankruptcy Judge in Washington D.C., and thereafter recruited as an Associate Attorney with Hogan Lovells: A Global Law Firm.
Shail continued as In-House Counsel with Wachovia Corporation, and witnessed the failure of a once thriving commercial bank first-hand during the 2008 Financial Crisis. Following the bank’s acquisition by Wells Fargo, he returned to private practice as a partner with Parker Poe Attorneys & Counselors at Law in Charlotte. He joined Charlatan as a legal contributor in 2009.
